Guatemala Economy

The Guatemalan economy with a population of 40.1 Million (Est 2010 census) ranks 75th in the world with a GDP PPP of 81.8 billion and GDP PPP per capita of 5,282 vs 53,101 (United States) according to the IMF in 2013. The national currency is issued by its central bank, the Bank of Guatemala (www.banguat.gob.gt) which is the Guatemalan quetzal (GTQ) or 'quetzal guatemalteco' in Spanish. Its inflation rate was estimated at was 4.4% in 2013 and 3.8% in 2012 by the CIA website.
